Dear friends,

We are buoyed by the support of our community! Our Summer campaign raised $5,870. Of that amount $1,870 was above and beyond our original goal and will be matched!

We just finished a photoshoot and are busy in the rehearsal studio. We are cheered by our friends near and far. For those of you in the area, we do hope you'll join us at the show in October!

With much gratitude,
Sarah and the SBPD Team

Sarah Bush Dance Project
Sarah Bush Dance Project creates and presents multimedia dance theater through innovative artistry, community interaction, and feminist ideals. SBDP creates art that reminds audiences of the power and compassion in ourselves and others, bolstering a resilient hope for humanity.

Our 12th year!
Since 2007, Sarah Bush Dance Project has produced four critically acclaimed repertory shows in the Bay Area: Home, Rocked by Women, This Land, and Spirit & Bones, and is now in production for Un-Changing Nature to be held at The Flight Deck in Oakland, October 25-27.

Human and environmental impact
Un-Changing Nature is a collection of SBDP’s rarely seen works with diverse looks at how humans impact the environment and how it in turn, impacts us. Each piece was inspired by a different adventure and created both inside and outside the studio. This show celebrates the spiritual impact of wilderness on our lives. It invites audiences to reflect on both the power we have to change the environment and our vulnerability in the truth of climate change. The dances are designed to reflect back to audiences their individual and collective power in the face of challenges and adversity.

Why do we need this money from you now?
SBDP’s funding comes from a variety of sources.  Individual donations make up a large part of our annual income.  We are buoyed by the support of our longtime and ever-expanding community.  Thank you!  Meeting the funding goal with this campaign is key to balancing our budget and ensuring that we have the resources to create a professional, high-quality production and compensate our performers and production team at the level they deserve.

By donating to this campaign not only are you championing artists and local economies, you are upholding the power of live performance as a means of bringing people together. This project invites reflection, conversation and community interaction around the important notions of compassion for the planet and empathy for the health and safety of its inhabitants. Thank you for all YOU do and for inspiring us to continue to live and work in alignment with values we believe in.
