Sarah Dahnke is a a Brooklyn-based choreographer, multimedia artist, and arts educator who directs Dances for Solidarity. Dances for Solidarity began as a letter writing campaign between artists and activists in New York and incarcerated people in Texas and Louisiana. Each letter initiated with the same 10-step Dance for Solidarity as a means to initiate a conversation around movement. Now, the project exists as a collaborative effort with system-affected people and choreographers to co-create movement that is performed for audiences around the United States.
Dances for Solidarity currently operates chapters in New York, Denver and is working to support a new chapter in Fort Collins, CO
