A new short film directed by Caroline Conrad and written by Alex Malcolm, "Satan Spawn" is a dark comedy about the perils of modern dating. 

After giving into her friends’ pressure to get on dating apps, Nina (22) gets stood up on her first date and finds herself in an unholy predicament after sleeping with The Devil himself – enlisting the help of her best friend Teneshia, Nina sets out on a mission to rid herself of her demonic pregnancy. 

Shot on 16mm film by Kenny Suleimanagich (BOOGER, 2024) with production design by Kendra Eaves (ANORA, 2024) and costumes by Nell Simon (THE FEELING THAT THE TIME FOR DOING SOMETHING HAS PASSED, 2024, GOOD ONE, 2024), featuring music by Henry Hall in the role of Lucifer.

Alex Malcolm is a Southern Jamaican-American writer and filmmaker whose accolades include being a Finalist in the Sundance Episodic Lab and a Summer Fellow at Mara Brock Akil’s Story27 Writers Colony and is represented by 831 Entertainment.  

Caroline Conrad was formerly the Senior Video Producer for Allure Magazine at Condé Nast and creative producer for artist Petra Collins on projects including the music video for Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Boy Problems" before moving on to producing and supervising feature films (THE BEACH HOUSE, 2019; BOOGER, 2024, ON THE END, post-production) and commercials, as well as directing videos for Allure Magazine and a web series for Comedy Central. Their first short film MAMMALIAN DIVING REFLEX (2021) played at Oscar-qualifying festivals including Florida and New Hampshire; their second short COMMON DECENCY, starring Juliet Rylance and Annabelle Zasowski, will be premiering in the fall of 2024.
