About

About Scraplanta

Scraplanta Creative Reuse is a nonprofit organization that collects materials for arts and crafts and makes them available to people who can use them. Scraplanta’s mission is to promote environmental awareness, education, and artistic expression to the greater Atlanta community through the collection and reuse of materials for arts and crafts.

In our mission to make Atlanta a more beautiful and sustainable place, we host art workshops and classes for people of all ages. We create and sell craft kits that inspire people to rethink what we might consider "trash".

Here is our Periodic Table of Creative Reuse. This is a tool used to help show donors the types of materials that we do or don't accept.

Who We are

Scraplanta is working to build an inclusive culture by connecting to the different communities in Atlanta. Our executive director is Jonelle Dawkins, who is a Georgia native and creative who loves to repurpose materials to create cosplays and design beautiful living spaces. Our board of directors consists of seven amazing individuals with a passion for arts and sustainability. Board members show their commitment to Scraplanta by volunteering 10 hours a month with activities such as processing donations, hosting workshops, and planning fundraisers.

2022: The year of Scraplanta

In Spring 2022, we will open our creative reuse center which includes a retail space, art gallery, and classroom area. Our workshops will be hosted by both board members and community volunteers to help teach Atlantans how to upcycle through multiple disciplines. Workshops will be accessible through virtual options and low price points. We are currently fundraising to get Scraplanta into our new building and to keep our doors open as we build enough momentum to host classes and artist networking events.
