Secret Experiments in Ballet is an ongoing project of choreographer Emily Stein. Based in Chicago, Emily plays in the intersection the intersection of improvisation and the ballet vocabulary. Using her classical training, post-modern performance career and extensive teaching experience, along with improvisational scores, a good deal of humor and Gail Grant's Technical Manual of Classical Ballet, she strives to crack the code of ballet in performances, classes and workshops. Secret Experiments in Ballet results in performances that combine ballet tradition, post-modern improvisation and sometimes, pancakes.
