Her funny, honest observations about domestic life made millions laugh, while challenging the expectations placed on women. She gave people permission to laugh at their imperfect lives and see those lives as worthy of being told.

Her influence continues through the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop, a sold-out gathering that brings writers together from far and wide. For many participants, it is more than a writing conference: it is a place to find encouragement, community, mentorship, and the courage to discover and wield their voice.

This film goes beyond Bombeck’s biography to explore why humor matters—especially when life gets hard.
