About

Shakespeare Everywhere produces site-specific, actor-driven performances of classical and contemporary plays in bars, bookstores, and other public venues across Dallas, Texas. We focus on staging work in non-traditional spaces to engage new audiences, challenge the boundaries of performance, and create joyful, inclusive events that welcome both seasoned theatergoers and total newcomers. We recently completed a sold-out run of Twelfth Night in a local brewery and are currently in rehearsals for a fall production of Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac, which will bring poetry and swordplay into a cozy neighborhood bar setting. Our cast includes a mix of professional actors and emerging talent, and all are paid for their work. Looking ahead to 2026, we are planning four new productions, including: • A bilingual adaptation of Romeo and Juliet incorporating Spanish-language scenes, • A stripped-down King Lear focused on elder performers, • A gender-flipped Much Ado About Nothing, • And a devised show inspired by Shakespeare’s clowns and fools, co-created with local artists. Our long-term vision includes building a sustainable model for fiscal sponsorship, expanding mentorship opportunities for younger theater-makers, and sharing our “playbook” of best practices with other groups across the country who want to bring classical theater into public spaces. We aim to make theater as unpretentious, thrilling, and accessible as music in a bar — because that’s exactly where you’ll find us.
