About

Skai Academy
is a multidisciplinary arts education initiative dedicated to providing accessible, culturally rooted creative learning experiences for children, families, and communities. Our mission is to strengthen literacy, creativity, confidence, and community connection through storytelling, music, theater, movement, creative writing, and the thoughtful integration of new technology—especially for youth and families with limited access to arts education.

Skai Academy is founded and directed by Kai Simone, Director, Vocalist, Songwriter, Playwright, Visual Artist, and Educator. Drawing inspiration from African Diaspora storytelling traditions and contemporary arts integration practices, Kai’s work centers the belief that storytelling is both a cultural practice and a powerful educational tool—one that supports language development, self-expression, empathy, and belonging. Digital media, visual projection, and interactive technology are often incorporated to enhance engagement and expand creative access.

Skai Academy delivers educational performances, arts-integrated classes and workshops, artist residencies, and extended learning programs in schools, libraries, community centers, and other public spaces. Signature programs include ComePlay: Early Childhood Music & Movement, Lyrical Storytelling (educational performances), and StoryPlay Theater Camp, an arts-integrated program that uses story structure, character development, music, performance, and creative technology to support literacy and creative confidence.

Programs are offered free or at low cost whenever possible and are designed to be age-appropriate, culturally responsive, and adaptable to a wide range of learning environments, including public, charter, and private schools, after-school programs, and homeschool communities.
