SO.GO.NO. is a production company with three functions. Our primary activity is producing theatrical performances, musical performances, and films. A secondary function is to produce teaching and training workshops by company members and master guest artists. The tertiary function is to present lectures and symposiums with lead scholars and artists in fields related to the companyí¢â‚¬â„¢s work.
SO.GO.NO. performances crossbreed forms of theater including absurdist, existential, Dadaist and surreal with related forms of movement including physical theater, butoh, magnified pedestrian movement, and the movement of the classic silent film actor. We are strongly based in the performance vocabulary of Ruth Zaporahí¢â‚¬â„¢s Action Theater, or the improvisation of presence.
SO.GO.NO. performances are contemporary parables. Simple stories and fables that reveal themselves in forms appropriate to the content they convey. Situations such as an old woman falling asleep next to an old radio. An Actress locked in her dressing room by a servant/trickster , a young woman cursing the idiot that chased her through a forest forcing her to turn into a tree, A pink baby reaching up from its crib towards a mobile of eggs. Through these simple scenarios SO.GO.NO. approaches and questions our modern/contemporary perspectives on life/ art /politics/ theater and the human experience.
SO.GO.NO. primary members are Cassie Terman, Tanya Calamoneri, and Allen Willner. We frequently collaborate with musicians and filmmakers depending on the needs of the different productions.
