About

My project will take place in the Doxsee Theater of Target Margin Theater in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY 11220. My team and I have full access to the space from Monday, January 13th to Sunday, January 19th, with four public performances on Friday January 17th at 7:30 PM, Saturday January 18th at 2 PM and 7:30 PM and Sunday, January 19th at 4 PM. Through these performances, I'll be able to share the piece with upwards of 300 people, and get their feedback both in the moment and more formally through post-performance discussion. I'll get video archival footage of the performance that I can use to apply for more funding and production opportunities. I'll get the opportunity to pay incredible artists for their labor and talent to make the show better, and I'll learn so much about the show from their work and feedback. Our measurements of success include reaching audience capacity at each performance, getting formal feedback from audience members, and generating buzz and an online presence around the show for future growth opportunities. I hope the audience leaves this show feeling empowered to explore the world of opera, on their own terms, and open to considering the complicated nature of famous art. I hope women in the audience feel seen and celebrated, and we create a space for beautiful music, complicated questions, and joy.
