About

Our mission is…

  • to celebrate the power of the human voice through spellbinding vocal performances that showcase bel canto technique
  • to work with artists in a collaborative manner that gives talent the support it needs to meet and express its potential
  • to present music drama in innovative performance contexts that reimagine familiar stories and bring to life new ones

Our vision

Sotto Voce is an opera collaborative for creatives. Our productions feature the full, rich, and raw colors of a truly traditional Italian vocal style that is rarely heard in opera houses today. Our interpretations of classic shows are thoughtful and fresh, bringing to life familiar characters and stories in new ways. Our collective work environment supports learning and growth for performers’ at many different stages of their operatic vocal journeys. Our shows are multi-sensorial experiences – combining resourceful staging, creative costuming, cinematic elements, architecturally stunning spaces, and captivating musical performances. With the help of our board members and volunteers, we also host pre- and post-event receptions that further welcome our audiences into our community. We are calling our creations "opera nouveau," as they are bringing operas to life in ways that you haven't seen or heard before.
