About

SoundingLine Arts is devoted to creating artistic landscapes free of certainty because we believe that it is in the very act of questioning our certainty that we grow as humans and, by extension, as a society.

After a successful run of ACCORD(ing), an immersive theatre experience addressing conflict and the mechanisms of the mind (in partnership with T'EA Creative) at Burning Coal Theatre in 2020, SoundingLine Arts is working to bring  49th Street and Other Stories a full-length movement play about courage, sacrifice, love, and discovery to production in 2022.

Through the use of poetic visuals, unique soundscapes, imaginative set and costume design, spoken word, installation art, and movement-based expression, SoundingLine Arts creates sensory experiences to delight audiences…sparking a sense of wonder, allowing the space to be curious about complex, challenging subject matter.

Our mission is simple: Build Bridges. Bridges between people, perspectives, and ideas. Bridges across chasms of confusion and frustration.  Bridges of understanding and curiosity, especially with topics and ideas that seem intractably polarized. That's when we really get inspired to create a space where a shared moment can extend a tether, revealing our commonalities and the possibility of a more accepting, open-minded future with less fear, anger, and intolerance.

Bronwen Carson, SoundingLine Arts' Artistic Director, is an award-winning director, writer, choreographer, and producer. Over 30 years of experience in multiple disciplines has given her a broad scope and a unique ability to overlap artistic tools to create work that elicits excitement and wonder in her audiences.

Recent works include “Saudade”, performed at Symphony Space in NYC which illuminated poverty and the universal experience of loss through a hypnotically slow, sepia-toned world, and “The Man Who Laughs”  a live performance of a silent film utilizing clowning and whimsy to address cruelty and courage.
