Rooted in narrative sovereignty, our monthly screenings & community conversations as well as the 2nd Annual Sovereign Lens Film Festival (SLFF) are shaped by the right of people to tell their own stories and to decide how their experiences are shared and represented.
We present monthly screenings featuring independent, documentary, and other films that center historically excluded perspectives, lived experiences, and stories that challenge dominant cultural narratives
We’re reimagining what a film festival can be. No premiere requirements. No pressure to conform to industry expectations. Just powerful stories told on their own terms. We screen films 20 minutes or less in any genre: documentary, animation, experimental, narrative, hybrid, or something entirely different. Because what matters most isn’t the format. It’s that stories remain in the hands of the people who live them.
