SPACE.01 is a Chicago-based DIY art gallery and community hub dedicated to uplifting underrepresented voices, including LGBTQ+, BIPOC, women, and other marginalized groups. Since opening in June 2024, we have provided a platform for artists to create, showcase, and profit from their work while fostering deeper connections within the community.
Our gallery is more than a physical space—it is a dynamic center for creativity and activism. From monthly art exhibitions spotlighting women, queer, trans, and BIPOC creators to collaborative events like concerts, fundraisers, and art classes, SPACE.01 is committed to making art accessible and meaningful. We also partner with local organizations and businesses, including AnySquared Projects and Bellows Film Lab, to extend the reach and impact of our mission.
Highlights of our programming include:
- Monthly Exhibits: Showcasing emerging and established artists whose work challenges norms and inspires change.
- Community Events: Hosting live performances, film screenings, and fundraising initiatives to address critical issues, such as recent efforts to support Gaza through E-Sim donations.
- Educational Opportunities: Providing workshops, artist talks, and resources to support creatives at all stages of their careers.
Our mission is rooted in resilience and resistance, reflecting the spirit of the artists and communities we serve. SPACE.01 is committed to pushing boundaries, dismantling systemic barriers, and fostering a world where everyone has the opportunity to create and thrive.
