Spilled Milk is an emotionally claustrophobic, dark comedy about Gil, a young man who is stunned when, at his mother’s funeral, he meets a woman who he discovers was his wet nurse during infancy. This leads him to face buried truths about his family, his limited perceptions of intimacy and to finally reconcile the insatiably elusive dynamic with his mother.
We are Emily Kron and Kate Hopkins, a creative duo who have been collaborating on film, television and audio for almost ten years. After the success of our two short films, Deceased Ones and The Dogfriend, we are chomping at the bit to get back on set for our next project, Spilled Milk and we need your support to make our dreams a reality. This is a project about which we are deeply passionate, a story that hinges on our own journeys in motherhood, exploring the overwhelming expectations and complex nature of need between child and caregiver. It’s messy and funny and sad, exploring a tonally hybrid reality that we, as filmmakers, aspire to probe.
