Spinster Sister is an artist resource-share, residency, and gallery space in a small town in rural Pennsylvania. It connects an international contemporary art world to a small, isolated community, creating a bridge for communication and connection in an often troublingly fractured cultural climate. The site, a small house owned for over half a century by spinster sisters, is optimized for the creation of art, with specialized equipment for sewing, ceramics, and sound as well as woodworking and drawing. Individual artists are invited for short and long stay residencies, as well as for gallery shows and collaborations. The site also hosts events, such as art history discussions, readings, screenings, and makers days.
