About

Threads of Belonging
is a cultural arts initiative that empowers young people from Iranian and Afghan communities to deepen their artistic practice, strengthen wellbeing, and build cross-cultural understanding through creativity. Rooted in the visual, textile, and poetic traditions of these regions, the project offers participants the resources and mentorship to refine their craft, purchase essential art supplies, and explore new methods that merge ancestral design with contemporary expression.

Through collaborative workshops, public exhibitions, and community-based art installations, participants learn to use art as both a language of identity and a bridge of empathy. By displaying their works in public spaces, the program invites broader audiences to encounter the beauty and shared humanity embedded in Iranian and Afghan cultural forms. In doing so, it helps counter stereotypes, nurture civic belonging, and strengthen the presence of immigrant and diaspora voices in the creative landscape.

Ultimately, Threads of Belonging transforms heritage art into a living dialogue — one that connects generations, communities, and hearts through beauty, craftsmanship, and shared creative purpose.
