About

Squarecircle Productions is currently fundraising for the narrative short film “One Day.”

“One Day” explores an average morning when a woman wakes up to find herself physically unable to withstand the effects of the patriarchy. As she continues to lose control, we find that a great societal shift is occurring. The reality of a divine goddess energy that tips society into a new female paradigm. It’s Day One of the matriarchy.

Note from Kimberly Dillon, Writer/Producer/Director of “One Day”:
“Women are forced to put up with violations everyday. From judgements on what we’re wearing, how we move, laws governing our bodies, catcalling, family dynamics, advertisements in magazines, mansplaining, physical and verbal attacks, and so much more. These daily indignities are “part of life” and continue to be largely accepted in our patriarchal culture.

I began writing this film after I started following the rape case of a male student at Stanford who raped a fellow female student behind a dumpster while she was unconscious. The court case and debate that followed made me sick, and after reading that his father didn’t think he should be punished for “20 minutes of action,” I felt like I had been punched in the stomach. The feeling was so visceral and I could not understand why I hadn’t realized up until that very moment how much of a soul beating women take on a daily basis. A curtain had been lifted inside of me.

The only way I could grapple with the feeling was to write about it and creatively explore the questions...
“What if this final breaking point actually happened? What would it look like? How would it start?”
