Sskysswanss is a multimedia concept album and multidisciplinary artistic production combining original music, live performance, visual art, comic storytelling, fashion, and physical art installation. Developed in connection with nonprofit and community organizations whose work intersects with its themes, the project uses these forms together to create an immersive creative universe in which music, story, and physical space become parts of the same experience.
At its center is Sharlette’s Song, a fantasy graphic novel following V, a courageous young girl whose profound friendship with a rescued chicken named Sharlette leads her beyond the everyday human world and into a vast network of natural, spiritual, and fantastical worlds. The story begins with grief but expands into a larger confrontation with darkness, asking what becomes possible when love, compassion, and the courage to protect vulnerable beings become sources of strength.
Sskysswanss brings this fictional world into conversation with real-world questions about how we relate to animals, nature, and one another. The project explores animal liberation, wildlife and environmental conservation, ecological destruction, mental health, grief, and the possibility of reducing suffering through greater compassion and connection with other living beings.
Its nonprofit partnerships are intended to connect the fictional world with organizations already doing this work, creating opportunities for collaboration, education, fundraising, resource sharing, and direct community support.
Sskysswanss Vol. 1 establishes the musical and visual foundation for the larger universe. A concentrated production period will bring the music, artwork, costumes, physical environments, and documentation together into a cohesive live work, followed by an initial touring phase that will bring the project into concert venues and communities. The work is designed to remain fundamentally a live musical performance while being adaptable to traditional stages, theatrical environments, installations, and community spaces, creating a foundation from which future music, stories, performances, and partnerships can continue to grow.
