Part dance, part theater, part oral history, Standing Together brings together Jorge, a Black Brazilian dance specialist, Damaris, a mixed-race theater maker as social justice advocate, who is a descendent of the American slave trade and Finnish immigrants and me, a dance maker with roots in somatics, and lineage traced to early colonial plantation owners. We show up in relationship to one another and hold space for the hard conversations through our personal interactions and love. Conceived by me and collaboratively created with Jorge and Damaris, there are 3 duets and a trio. Video is also a part of our collaboration.
