Our work is to encourage support for local community-based organizations serving people in various states of need, including At-Risk Youth, women establishing after domestic abuse and families in need.
Stars 4 Peace collaborates with musicians and artists of similar heart and mind to use the attention we gain as a community to encourage this support, and have enjoyed success doing so for over a decade.
Recently, for example, we installed illuminated stars in Tacoma's Foss Waterway Seaport Museum, which in our city equates to heightening community visibility substantially. Concurrently, we installed publicly at the neighboring City's of Gig Harbor Civic on the Green (their Town Hall) an exhibit that introduce our work to their community. Subsequent to this, Valentine's Day weekend, we began offering the newly released, 19-track double album Shades of Blue then released by Dain Norman, a local musician who has supported this project since 2015. Ongoing from that time we have been and will be adding music to a pool of sound that will be given to people who donate to local organizations serving youth in our city, which they can find on our website Stars4Peace.org. In August we will install at the local music festival Music & Heart in Wright Park and exhibit that we have added to since 2019 annually at the Park, and which is recognized and known throughout our music and arts community.
From there, we will coordinate musicians with local businesses to celebrate with us the International Day of Peace Sat, Sept 21, as we have done now since 2012 every year - it is a fun way to bring in Autumn, raise support for youth in need and at the same time bring people into the local community culture our city is both proud of and fortunate to have. We show people where to go locally to find their tribe, enjoy new experiences and discover what makes our local community culture the exceptional thing it is.
Ongoing year round the needs-drive will continue, and in December we will host the 10th Annual Procession of Stars at Tacoma's Santa Parade - the city's most anticipated holiday parade. We give illuminated stars to people throughout the parade, adding a little extra joy to the festivities.
This approach is unique to our city as we know it, and works exceptionally well.
We enjoy support from all walks of life and have quite a lot of fun doing this work.
This is our service and our joy.
