My work concerns the themes of isolation, contemplation, and renewal. I create oil paintings on panel that investigate the shared experience of both grief and tranquility. The surfaces of the paintings are repeatedly sanded, creating a weathered, worked surface, meant to invoke the raw emotions worn down by time and experience. The current project primarily involves paintings of windows and curtains, exploring the effect of light and shadow. I am interested in creating scenes of stillness and quiet.
