Musician and composer Stephen Savage was born in St. Louis, MO and grew up in the Santa Fe, NM area.
He attended the New England Conservatory of Music, where he received a Bachelor of Music with Honors and a Master of Music in Music Composition. He is now a member of the theory faculty at New England Conservatory's Preparatory School and Continuing Education Division, and he also works as a freelance music teacher and keyboardist.
Formerly, he was a faculty member at Berklee College of Music, teaching theory, composition, and piano, and was a faculty member at Groton Center for the Arts in Groton, MA, whose music school later became Indian Hill Arts, now Indian Hill Music Center in Littleton MA. Through outreach programs at these institutions, he worked at the Groton School and Lawrence Academy as a piano teacher, and he also assisted at Lawrence Academy as choral accompanist for several years.
During his career he has performed as recitalist, orchestral pianist, "cocktail" pianist, keyboardist and guitarist for various rock bands, pianist in an improvisational opera group, and has worked at a recording studio in Boston. He is now affiliated with "Proof of Infinity" (www.proofofinfinity.com) a musical umbrella organization based in Concord, MA.
He continues composing works for classical solo, chamber, orchestral ensembles and jazz and electronic groups.
