This project will provide a vital record of Black LGBTQAI+ religious life, foster dialogue between the Black Church and LGBTQAI+ communities, challenge harmful theological practices, and encourage the creation of affirming spaces that honor the full humanity of Black LGBTQAI+ members. By combining academic rigor with creative storytelling, it will serve as both scholarly contribution and cultural intervention. Ultimately, it will become an effective tool to initiate and/or influence policy change within the Historical Black Church.
