About

Who We Are

Soultry Sisters Arts + Wellness Collective was founded in January 2019 by Black and Filipina sisters, Alyssa and Toni Junious. Soultry Sisters was created to address the lack of representation of diverse race and socioeconomic status in North County San Diego and to reclaim artistic expression and collective healing as our birthright. We strive to make arts & wellness more equitable and empower BIPOC women to live vibrant and creative lives through soulcare, creative expression, sustainability, and collective healing. Our community programs include: art workshops, book clubs, mindful movement classes, wellness workshops, cultural gatherings, and our annual festival. We curate spaces to make meaningful connections, foster belonging, and reclaim our arts and wellness cultural practices from our diverse backgrounds. Our work reframes holistic wellbeing as a communal approach. Through building community, we support and celebrate our individual and collective healing journeys.

Co-Founder Alyssa is an interdisciplinary artist and movement practitioner passionate about making art accessible to all. She believes creative expression is a pathway to collectively healing. As a socially conscious artist, she uses art to process, cope and create conversation around social change in her community. She received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Performance, Choreography, and Certificate of Arts Management from the University of California, Irvine. In 2018, she founded Continuum Arts & Pilates where she independently produces community performances, artist development programs, and movement workshops.

Co-Founder Toni is a public health and holistic wellness practitioner passionate about improving health equity in her community. As a women’s health researcher, arts & wellness curator, and healing artist, she merges public health and holistic practices to promote wellness as liberation. She has worked in women’s wellness, community outreach, and community-based research to increase access to resources to help individuals reach optimal well-being. Toni graduated from UC Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health and Global Cultures. She received her Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology from George Washington University. Toni is also a 200 HR certified yoga teacher, community herbalist, and full-spectrum doula.
