Sunflower the Musical is an award-winning, singable original new musical for young people and their families that addresses the timely topics of handling bulling and self-esteem. It is a full-length musical that tells the story of Amalie, an 11-year-old quirky kid who magically travels through a Van Gogh painting and befriends the artist. Although she realizes she can't save him from his tragic fate, she can learn to believe in herself and her own future. Sunflower won two pitch night awards in 2022 at the Musical Writers Festival in Fort Worth, TX (most unique concept, and most likely to sing along to soundtrack!) and will be a featured work at the upcoming New Musical Works festival in Boulder this summer 2025. We the authors are long time advocates of children as a licensed psychologist and music teacher, and we are committed to serving children and helping them through the arts.
