SynthesisDANCE is the creative home of choreographer Tracie Stanfield and a collective of fierce, fearless artists. Rooted in intention, technical precision and athletic artistry, SynthesisDANCE creates work that explores connection, expression and the power of the moving body.
Through performances, workshops and collaborative experiences, SynthesisDANCE brings artists and audiences together to explore, question and connect through movement.
Tracie Stanfield is a choreographer known for fusing contemporary, classical, and pedestrian vocabularies into work that is both visceral and precise. Her choreography balances raw intensity with sculpted detail, creating performances that are dynamic and emotionally charged. The Huffington Post UK praised her for “thrilling and mesmerizing with her masterful fusion of contemporary and classical dance forms,” while Dance Magazine calls her work “inspiring.”
Her dances have been performed at Symphony Space, Jazz at Lincoln Center, BAM Fisher, The Duke Theatre, Brooklyn Museum, and Bryant Park, as well as internationally in Spain, Scotland, Ireland, Russia, and across North and Latin America. Commissions include works for Tec de Monterrey Universidad (Mexico), DAR Festival (Russia), Premiero Ato (Brazil), Verismo Opera Company (NJ), Tapestry Dance Company (TX), Brooklyn Dance Festival Company (NY) and Movementum Dance Project.
Stanfield founded SynthesisDANCE, a New York–based company presenting bold repertory that earned acclaim at the Booking Dance Festival in Edinburgh, toured with WestAF/NEA support, and played to sold-out NYC audiences. The company received the Spirit of Elan Award and was featured in Dance Spirit Magazine’s “Nine DanceMakers Making History.” Her work also extends to film and media, including The Fairy Queen (dir. Erin Levendorf), campaigns with Caseology, and Dance4Camera collaborations with BT Films.
At the heart of her choreography is the idea of permission—permission to feel, to question, to include, and to be included.During the pandemic, she launched the Construction Company, an online collective uniting 47 dancers across seven countries, reshaping her artistic voice toward sharper focus and greater risk. She is currently creating with and co-directing RR Dance Collective in South Dakota.
Stanfield’s choreography is both visual and emotional conversation—inviting audiences into a world of honest emotion and pure physicality. “Everyone has permission to enter.”
