About

In a world where the contributions of marginalized veterans are often erased from history, the T.R.U.T.H. Initiative stands steadfast in its mission to reclaim those stories. These brave patriots—including Black, Indigenous, Latino, Asian American, women, and LGBTQ+ service members—have fought valiantly for their country, only to witness their sacrifices overlooked. This erasure is not just a disservice to their legacy; it robs future generations of the powerful lessons embedded in their experiences.

The founder, Michael Bennett, a U.S. Air Force veteran and seasoned entertainment industry professional, knows this struggle intimately. For decades, he has witnessed the alarming systemic omission of contributions from people of color and underrepresented groups in the military. It is a wound that calls for both action and healing. Driven by a desire to affect change, Michael established the T.R.U.T.H. Initiative, with the essential goal of preserving these flourished legacies through film, education, and public storytelling.

The first major project, "Barrage," spotlighting the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion—an all-Black combat unit that bravely stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day—captures the unsung heroism of those who served their nation and yet were cast to the sidelines of history. The impact of this film is significant; it endeavors not only to restore recognition to a forgotten battalion but also evoke national conversations about race, service, and remembrance. However, the initiative extends beyond film. It embodies community-based research, oral histories, and educational partnerships with HBCUs and veterans’ groups. With workshops designed for veteran creatives to contribute to media projects, the T.R.U.T.H. Initiative is simultaneously uplifting those who have served while providing opportunities to build sustainable careers in the entertainment field.

Despite being newly launched, the enthusiasm surrounding the initiative is palpable. Conversations have been encouraging, suggesting a deep yearning for these stories to be told. The T.R.U.T.H. Initiative removes barriers, creating pathways for veterans, particularly from underrepresented communities, to engage in empowering storytelling that honors their sacrifices.

Michael's unique combination of military and entertainment expertise makes him an authoritative leader in transforming these narratives.
