This is a story happening now.
The Covid-19 crisis finds Alice away from her home and her partner. Her voice mail messages to him compose an audio diary of her 200-day static journey in quarantine. As an “alien visitor”, Alice struggles with bureaucracy. The necessary measures taken are a sudden obstacle to her return to her homeland. Message after message, we piece together the puzzle of a changing world and a country transforming into a dystopian society on the brink of collapse, where the virus becomes a tool of oppression in the hands of the local government. The new reality infiltrates Alice’s days, while she battles with the idea of an unknown future, that suddenly and unexpectedly is not a linear continuation of her past.
“Talk Tomorrow” is a play written and directed by Lyto Triantafyllidou, as an immediate reaction to the isolation defining the weeks after the mandatory Pause caused by Covid-19. The play explores the issues of love, partnership and intimacy under the current circumstances. Through a series of voice messages, the performance is an aural “jump cut” that exposes the loneliest moments of a person in quarantine: when a phone call remains unanswered.
