Tee Zee Productions
English Plays with Urdu Souls
At Tee Zee Productions, we create English-language plays infused with the rich soul of Urdu, honoring South Asia’s timeless traditions of poetry, music, Sufism, and storytelling. Our stories are deeply rooted in cultural values of respect, love, and tolerance. Having recieved grants from BANF, MAAA, and The Doris Duke Foundation, Tee Zee Productions have performed commissioned plays at the prestigious Wortham Theater and Asia Society Texas.
For the past eight years, we have developed and staged original, tradition-inspired plays that bring people together through a shared cultural heritage. In a city as diverse as Houston, our work bridges generations, races and ethnicities , sparking meaningful conversations through art.
Recognizing the lack of dedicated platforms for South Asian theater artists, Tee Zee Productions serves as an incubator for emerging talent of South Asian origin. Our mission is to discover, nurture, and showcase Houston’s local artistic voices, empowering them to tell their own stories.
Urdu, one of South Asia’s most cherished languages, is at the heart of our programming. We offer virtual and in-person Urdu language classes for all ages, thoughtfully designed to be engaging and accessible. To further promote Urdu literature and cultural appreciation, we host an annual Bayt Bazi program, now in its fourth year. It is a friendly poetry recitation competition aimed at reviving this beautiful but fading tradition.
Join us in celebrating language, heritage, and creativity. Tee Zee Productions is where stories come alive, voices are uplifted, and culture is honored.
