About

MISSION: Tender Thread Productions is an unincorporated artists initiative formed to create theatrical works by and for trans and gender non-conforming individuals. We invite all trans and GNC folks as well as our allies to join us in this project to develop original works that shun stereotypes and provide a vision of our lived experience.

Current plays in development are:
BIG PINK MEAT A play set in a ham factory in suburban NJ. It charts the Joycean journey from she to he during one day in the life of a trans teen.



Production History
2013 ECSTASY/TREASON : A 10 minute movement based text premiered in the Dream Up Festival as part of Coq Tot, a mini-homage to the work and life of Jean Cocteau.

WAITING FOR THE SHOW (comedy)
Conceived in the style of the Theatre of the Ridiculous, WAITING FOR THE SHOW centers on the events of one afternoon rehearsal of a Right-to-Life skit by two women in the basement of a major research hospital. Nina, is a 30ish suburban housewife and Christian evangelical and the Director; Anne, is a twenty-something, timorous, re-enactor of the Declaration of Independence and the Actor. Director and Actor diligently rehearse their skit in a bid to win the National Christian Tolerance Variety Show Competition. Every day the rehearsal is interrupted by Nina's trip to the Treatment Room. On this day however, scientists Dr. Freud and Dr. Nietzsche enter to observe The Treatment.Bloodcurdling screams and patient insurrection quickly follow.

WAITING FOR THE SHOW transferred to a NYC venue, in winter 2009 at the WOW Cafe Theater. Published script will be available on Doolee in early 2010.

THE TENDER THREAD
The Tender Thread is a serio-comedy set in the Renaissance which explores the status of women in upper class Venetian merchant society, the cult of dueling, and the vicious blood feuds that were common among families. It is in development for a workshop in 2009.

A drama based on the infamous incident of WWI when the German occupying force in Brussels executed a British nurse for treason.

4. QUEEN OF THE UNDERWORLD
An international crook and prostitute plies her trade in the underworld of turn-of-the century New York, Paris, and London.
