The subtitle for the film is "this is not a movie, it's a movement"; what is meant by that is that by activating the elements of Hip Hop in this region, we aim to unite many disparate organizations and disciplines together to coalesce into one standing unit; artists, educators, healers, farmers, entrepreneurs, native elders and practitioners of each element uniting to create a longstanding ecosystem that relies on itself and not on corporate backing. The film creates the first cinematic record of a border Hip Hop ecosystem that has flourished for decades entirely outside the view of the culture industry, centering the voices of practitioners, historians, and community elders who have sustained it. Through free public premieres, educational distribution, and long-term streaming access, the project returns this story to the community that lived it.
