About

The Atlantic Bossa Soul Initiative is a three-month international music residency featuring Arkansas-based recording artist Unorthox By Nature, a 2026 Arkansas Music Awards Best Female R&B Artist. This project takes place across Brazil, Portugal, and Spain and is designed to immerse the artist in the origins and global evolution of bossa nova while developing original music that blends R&B, soul, hip hop, and Brazilian musical traditions. Through travel, collaboration, and cultural exchange, the initiative brings together musicians, producers, and creative communities across three countries. Activities include songwriting sessions, studio recording, live performances, media interviews, and the creation of documented visual content capturing the artistic process. The project’s purpose is to create new music while fostering cross-cultural collaboration between African American musical traditions and the musical heritage of Brazil and Europe. The residency will also produce publicly shared content, including recorded music, video documentation, and storytelling that highlights the evolution of a new international sound shaped by cultural exchange and artistic exploration. The Atlantic Bossa Soul Initiative is both an artistic development project and a public-facing cultural exchange designed to expand the reach of contemporary R&B through global musical influence.
