The
Balance Arts Center teaches mindfulness in action for arts educators & performing artists through the principles and practices of the Alexander Technique. The Alexander Technique is a method for learning better dynamic balance and improved functioning of the mind-body as a whole. It teaches educators and artists to observe and bring into consciousness their own thought and movement habits. Through mindful awareness, creative and appropriate choices can be made in the moment of teaching and performing, fostering more engagement through allowing for greater spontaneity and responsivity in the classroom and performance.
The Balance Arts Center serves performing artists through programming that allows them to develop themselves and better understand how they are the instrument in their craft. We offer weekly group classes for singers, actors, dancers and musicians. The BAC faculty also train performing artists in individual lessons. The BAC has several more robust ways to study.
