About

The Bargain is an independent supernatural thriller rooted in Black Southern folklore — a story about the price of protection, the cost of freedom, and what it means to bargain with forces older than memory.

Our mission is to bring an underrepresented corner of American tradition to the screen with the craft, specificity, and reverence it deserves. Black Southern folklore is a living inheritance — complex, powerful, and largely absent from prestige cinema. The Bargain exists to change that, through a story that is intimate in scale and mythological in weight.

The film centers on two sisters, Zola and Virie, who must escape the invisible boundaries of their grandmother's property — and reckon with the marks she has already left on them. It is a story about power passed down, power withheld, and the moment a woman decides her life belongs to her.

The Bargain is written and directed by Charles Gilbert — award-winning filmmaker and Director of Production at Atlanta Hawks Studios — for Walk Among Giants. He is joined by a producing team with credits spanning television and independent film, including The Walking Dead and Creepshow, among them Julia Hobgood, Joshua Looby, and Lauren Murphy. The team is currently in active pre-production, with a proof-of-concept shoot underway to establish the film's visual language, VFX approach, and cinematic tone.
