‘The Book of Radio Hours’ is a 45-minute song cycle for two performers and audio-video electronics, with Eliza Bagg (voice, violin, electronics) and Celeste Oram (composition, voice, flutes, electronics). Fusing the startlingly radical qualities of Medieval music with a speculative sonic world, the piece is a playful yet critical reflection on Medievalism’s ever-ascendant popularity: What dissatisfactions of the present do successive generations hope to resolve by looking towards this distant past?
