About

The story is an ambitious, sprawling narrative centering on the citizens of the Bushwick community in Brooklyn, NY. Quietly menacing its streets for a clean decade, a perpetrator has been slowly ratcheting up his odd and increasingly disturbing behavior, before it finally escalates into murder.

Holding the threads together is our protagonist Julie Bart, a burned-out true crime sleuth, struggling with her own mental health issues.

Attached in the lead role is Lindsay Burdge.

Lindsay has been a fixture on the American independent film scene since starring in the Sundance hit “A Teacher” (2013), later adapted into the Hulu series of the same name.

Since then, she’s brought electric, high-wire performances to works by celebrated filmmakers such as Karyn Kusama (“The Invitation”), Joe Swanberg (“Easy,” “Digging For Fire”), Alex Ross Perry (“Her Smell”), and Nathan Silver (“Thirst Street”).

Also included in this eclectic cast is Asta Paredes and Clay von Carlowiz (Troma's "Return to 'Nuke Em High" and Larry Fessenden's upcoming "Blackout.")

In the director's chair is writer/director Brian DiLorenzo

Brian DiLorenzo (writer/director)

In 2020, he made his feature directorial debut with “MYTH starring Nicholas Tucci, released on streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime and Tubi.

For Brian, this story began formulating back in 2018, based on two very influential factors in his life: the neighborhood he lived in (Bushwick, Brooklyn) and the content he was consuming obsessively (true crime).

Eventually, these two inspirations combined into a unifying theme of community: not just of Bushwick but also the interconnected web of true crime obsessives. Julie's mission is to find  her place within both of these worlds, while also of course, catching The Bushwick Psycho.

At its core, this film is about a generational anxiety and unease, specifically by its female characters and the everyday dangers imposed on them by men. It is also a commentary on the current state of true crime in our pop culture landscape and the psychological effects it has on its devotees. By treating these obsessions, fears, and anxieties with the utmost sincerity, we strive for a greater level of catharsis by expressing them on screen.
