The Cockroach Diary is a song cycle for voice and guitars—both classical and electric—that explores an artist’s search for their own voice. Written during a time of personal artistic stasis, the work unfolds as a journey that begins in intimacy, ventures into outer space, and eventually returns to Earth. Performed live with theatrical interludes—conversations with a cockroach—the piece reflects on vulnerability, resilience, and transformation.
I am now collaborating with filmmaker Xuan to develop the work into a fully immersive performance with a media environment that combines realistic and abstract visual elements. Funds raised will directly support the creation and integration of these visuals, allowing The Cockroach Diary to be realized as a multidimensional experience that brings music, text, and image together in powerful new ways.
