The Folk Music Hall of Fame Museum is a dream long in the making and now about to come true thanks to the ongoing efforts of its dedicated founders, the enthusiasm of the artists and professionals in the Folk Music community, and most importantly, the widespread support of the legion of fans around the world who have enjoyed Folk Music for generations - whether on records and radio, in concert and club or on front porch or digital media. The FMHF & Museum is set to become an International destination and landmark.
The FMHF is currently being further developed as a touring 'Immersive' production under the title of: "Wayfaring Strangers - The Story Of American Folk Music" a 300 year odyssey by Folk Music Productions, LLC - our content / creative sister company.
The FMHF is centered on honoring the musical, lyrical, storytelling and performance legacy of our Folk Music to maintain this heritage for future generations. In September, 2022 the FMHF received it's formal listing as a Federal Trademark protected by the USPTO - after a 7 year registration and qualification process.
The Folk Music Hall Of Fame’s Inaugural Awards Show and first annual induction ceremony will take place at the DAR Constitutional Hall (DAR), the historic performance jewel in the nation's capital in October, 2026. The Inaugural Gala will celebrate artists, composers, music industry and other leaders whose invaluable contributions on many levels lead to the development and continuing popularity of Folk Music worldwide.
Artists, songwriters, performers, organizations and industry professionals are eligible for induction regardless of age or longevity having, by peer and induction Board approval, met the threshold criteria of having substantially influenced the art form. Additionally, we intend annual excellence awards to acknowledge the ongoing, vibrancy and popularity of folk music across multiple styles and associated music genres.
The mission of the Folk Music Hall of Fame LLC, its partners and associates is to create a truly international Gala TV Special,
