The Horror Advocate is a powerful tool for prioritizing underrepresented communities and voices through immersion therapy. The award-winning content house creates exceptional pop culture resources focused on the intersection of horror and social justice. This initiative provides community consult services to educators, civic leaders, and community organizers to help them implement film literacy as part of their efforts to bring about positive change.
In February 2023, the Mass Cultural Council recognized THA's mission to address the root causes of inequities rather than their symptomatic effects as a critical influence on MA culture. At THA, we use innovative community response models to reframe and repurpose traumatic content, showcasing the transformative impact of blending horror film, equity, and compassion. Our objective is to dismantle antiquated social structures that thrive on harm and starve survival.
We have recently released new content, including The Horror Advocate's Guide to Streaming with Intention [Tubi, 2023] and the early-stage development document for the DEI FILM ARCHIVE digital platform. Our mission is to help people experience the same catharsis that we do while creating it.
