About

The Last Audition — World Tour (2026–2027)
is an international solo theatre project created and performed by actor-playwright Paul Shearman. The work follows a once-celebrated Shakespearean actor confronting early cognitive decline as he prepares for what may be his final audition. Through classical language, contemporary storytelling, and direct audience engagement, the piece explores aging, memory, identity, and creative legacy.

Our mission is to create intimate, high-caliber theatrical experiences that spark dialogue across generations and expand access to meaningful cultural conversation. We believe live performance can open space for empathy, reflection, and connection, particularly around subjects that are often experienced privately, such as memory loss, caregiving, and reinvention later in life.

The World Tour includes public performances at international festivals and venues across Australia, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Each engagement is paired with post-show discussions, workshops, and community conversations designed to deepen audience engagement and extend the impact beyond the stage.

Banjo & Bongo Productions, the project’s producing entity, supports artist-led touring work that integrates performance with education and outreach. By combining live theatre with facilitated dialogue and learning opportunities, the project serves theatre audiences, students, caregivers, artists, and community organizations interested in aging, identity, and creative resilience.

Support for this project enables responsible international touring, fair artist compensation, and expanded community engagement activities that make this work accessible to diverse audiences.
