The Last Bateau is a meditative short film and archival audio exhibit built around Caddo Lake’s last known wooden bateau and the people who once called its waters home. Using documentary image, restored family tapes, and sculptural installation, the project turns one boat and one family archive into a time capsule of regional craft, memory, and resilience. The work will tour to museums, galleries, libraries, and universities, inviting communities into public conversations about legacy, oral history, and our relationship to place.
