The installation will light up Upper New York Harbor on four occasions over the next year: The first is planned for September 21–28, during Climate Week NYC 2025, the World Climate & Biodiversity Summit, and the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly. Future iterations will be held on Earth Day, April 22, 2026, World Oceans Day, June 8, 2026, and Climate Week NYC, September 2026.
A 125-foot-wide, 40-foot-tall arc of illuminated mist will become the canvas for Wonder Science’s visual program celebrating the normally invisible aquatic life forms that play an outsized role in stabilizing Earth's climate. We recognize microorganisms' role in oxygen production, carbon sequestration, bioremediation, and as the foundation of aquatic food webs. These amazing creatures are seen magnified 40,000 times on a mist screen twice the size of an IMAX, framed in front of the Statue of Liberty.
