The Mackle Shaw Duo is a harp and percussion chamber music duo comprised of harpist Anna Kate Mackle and percussionist John Shaw. Principal players and soloists in The Florida Orchestra for over 25 and married to each other for over two decades, their mission is to commission and perform new music for harp and percussion by composers from under-represented backgrounds. They are recent prize winners in the American Prize, and have been awarded grants from the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, Creative Pinellas, The Palladium Theater St. Petersburg, and the New World Symphony. They have collaborated with and commissioned music from composers including Nathan Daughtrey, Michael Ippolito, Daniel Black, Mattea Williams, Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, and The Honourable Elizabeth A. Baker, and they hope to be able to commission even more works from women and composers from underrepresented backgrounds in the future.
