About

The Millvale Festival Orchestra was formed in 2024, as part of the effort to bring classical music to the Millvale Music Festival, one of Pittsburgh's most well attended music festivals. We successfully presented a performance of eastern and central European composers, as well as American legends Samuel Barber and Nancy Galbraith.

This year, Nancy Galbraith will be returning, with a chamber arrangement of her new double concerto "The Forest Cathedral", written for the MFO. Bookending her celebration of nature and friendship are two of the titans of the German romantic era- Gustav Mahler and Richard Wagner. Two musical love letters - Mahler's Ruckert Lieder, and Wagner's Siegfried Idyll - frame a conversation about the power of music to convey tenderness and intimacy, as well as about the folly and reprehensibility  of Wagner's beliefs about Jewish composers. It is the MFO's most ambitious program to date, and we hope you will all be there to hear it!

We have recieved support from our generous board members, as well as from the Frank-Rayche studio for creative inquiry. But we need your help to secure our place at the Millvale Music Festival for the 3rd year. Will you be one of the MFO's supporters this year?
