The New Standard

The New Standard NYC is a dance and music collective dedicated to fostering collaborations between choreographers and composers and creating opportunities for new works to be developed and performed with live music in New York City.

Our first season brought together three choreographer-composer partnerships, ten dancers, and five live musicians who premiered three brand-new works at our inaugural performances at Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center in June 2026. This project was crowd-funded, raising over $10,000 during our funding campaign. Following an enthusiastic response from both artists and audience, we are excited to expand The New Standard NYC for our second season. Our upcoming show will expand this model by presenting four new collaborative works created by four choreographer-composer partnerships: Olivia Wang and Ilya Osachuk, Juliette Rafael and Coby Petricone-Berg, Dianne Cano and Aditi Malhotra, and Morgan Baker and Geoffrey Gallante. All of these artists stand on their own at the fronts of their fields, and we believe strongly in their potential to create meaningful and lasting works together as a result of their collaborations in our program.
