Nurture is a film about queer and trans acceptance. It is the story of a young girl named Ayla who discovers she can bring her stories and drawings to life. Through those stories we explore a story of loss, grief and of chosen family. Through Ayla’s adventures we teach others that the love of a parent should be unconditional and that true family are the ones that show up for you and nurture what makes you happy.
The film is a love letter and conversation platform in equal measure. The film seeks to give a real life vocabulary to a media narrative that assumes stereotypes about the experiences of growing up while trans or queer. Our hope is use the film as a platform and as a place of representation for a community that does not often see itself reflected in media.
