The Pause Generation

Commencement marks both a beginning and an end — it is fraught with a sense of the unknown regardless of year. Yet for the Class of 2020, the uncertainty has never been greater. With life as we knew it on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, high school and college seniors left school without attending prom, presenting their theses, or walking across stage to receive their diplomas. THE PAUSE GENERATION is a feature-length documentary that seeks to explore these unique challenges facing 2020 graduates, from heading into an unstable job market to leaving friends or family behind. We’ll follow a variety of people, including college athletes, international students, and first-generation graduates, to document how their lives evolve over the coming year. The class of 2020 is missing out on some memorable moments, and no other generation before or after will have the graduation and first year experience that these students have. We’d like to celebrate and share their unforgettable journey ahead.
