The Purdie Party is a concert series celebrating Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, who played on an estimated 3,000-4,000+ recordings with Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan, James Brown, King Curtis, and hundreds more. An all-star band performs the hits Purdie played on, with Purdie himself leading from behind the kit. The project preserves and celebrates the legacy of session musicians who shaped American popular music.
