The Regenerate! Orchestra exists to bring fun, social connection, and the magic of the orchestra to Southeast Michiganders, especially those alienated by mainstream classical music institutions. Regenerate wants to provoke a joyful revolution in new music, and serve as an example of what classical music could be— a gathering place that is decidedly thrilling, inclusive, and pro-social.
Regenerate! is an exciting new addition to Michigan’s cultural landscape, and to classical music more broadly. Since 2018, the orchestra has included hundreds in over a dozen unique performances, including many of whom had never played with a large ensemble before. The group draws in diverse creatives from across the region, and has built a dynamic community around unforgettable “immersions”.
Regenerate believes in music’s power to combat the stresses and disconnection of contemporary life. Rehearsals are a supportive and uplifting environment that welcome musicians of all levels, including those without formal training. Meetings are catered with local food— the metaphor of sharing a meal is central to Regenerate’s ethos.
Performance sites have included breweries, a climbing gym, and even a disc golf course. The group performs three times a year in Southeast Michigan, offering audiences a consistent opportunity for community members to experience music that uplifts, challenges, and inspires.
